mysql每12-18小时100%cpu

我继承了一个windows服务器(2016),我们有一个不是我写的专有软件,它使用的是mysql数据库。我是sql的新手。
有一个客户端软件,将连接到服务器随机全天。每天有10到200台不同的计算机登录到这个服务器,这取决于我们有多忙。
我们使用一个vps,带有4个虚拟内核、8gb的ram和一个204gb的本地磁盘。
似乎每12-18个小时,我们的软件就会出现挂起的问题,任务管理器就会显示mysqld 99-100%的cpu使用率
在我强制退出软件,然后重新启动mysql服务之前,它不会再正常工作。
